So I had been studying some of last night and this morning for an exam I had later today. I spent a few hours compiling notes, powerpoints, and flashcards. The professor told us that the exam would be 40 questions which is pretty typical for this class. I went to start the exam and noticed there was only one question instead of the 40 that she had said there would be. I then read the instructions which said this...
"As a trauma and resilience researcher who believes in the healing power of social support, I've come to the conclusion that I cannot in good conscience make you take an exam during a global crisis. Consider this my way of socially supporting you.
All I ask is that you respond to the following question. If you've enjoyed the material and would like to write something more fleshed out as a reflective exercise, lovely. If you'd prefer to keep it brief, that's okay too.
After you finish, I hope you take some time to do something kind for yourself."
I am just so thankful for professors that understand what a weird time this is. I appreciate how she recognizes that all of this has been hard on everyone in some way.
So, I see glory in understanding and gentle professors who remind you to be kind to yourself.
